Waterproof retractable pen for ink washes

I recently bought a Pilot G-2 pen for drawing prior to using watercolour washes.
Despite being advertised as archival there is no way the ink in this pen is waterproof it bleeds horribly.
 Can someone recommend a pen which has waterproof ink

Granulation medium.

Does anyone know what can be used to make my own granulation medium? I find the small bottles by people like Windsor and Newton rather expensive and wondered if it was possible to make a cheaper alternative.
